3D Model & Hardware Design Engineer

You will design the mechanical enclosures, mounting systems, and physical housings that protect and present our embedded hardware products. Working alongside electrical and firmware engineers, you will translate circuit board dimensions and thermal requirements into production-ready 3D designs.
- Design 3D enclosures and mechanical parts for embedded boards and IoT hardware
- Create parametric CAD models for SBC carriers, sensor mounts, and robot structural frames
- Produce fabrication-ready STL and STEP files for 3D printing and CNC machining
- Collaborate with PCB designers to validate mechanical and electrical form-factor fit
- Prototype designs in-house using FDM and SLA 3D printers
- Maintain a versioned component design library for reusable mechanical assemblies
- Proficiency in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or FreeCAD for parametric modelling
- Experience designing enclosures for PCBs and SBCs (Raspberry Pi form factors)
- Knowledge of 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA) and material selection for function
- Understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards for manufacture
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA) principles
- Experience with DXF/STEP export for sheet metal and CNC fabrication workflows
- Knowledge of thermal simulation for electronics enclosure cooling design
- Background in robotics mechanical design (servo mounts, linkage housings)
- Own the full mechanical design process for hardware product development
